Alpha was founded and continues to be run by banking professionals who know what it takes to succeed in the financial markets. The role of the management team is to manage and oversee all operations of the Alpha global business and ensure that clients are well served by the products and services provided by the firm. The Management team is also accountable for delivering organisational performance against plans and identifying and managing risks.

Ian Dawson


“Ian enjoys all aspects of his role as Chair at Alpha and, since founding the company in 2003, has done nearly every role! Ian worked for over a decade in global investment banking before focussing on the opportunity to build a business totally focused on executing impactful, highly customised development programmes for the leading global financial services firms.

As Chairman and Founder of Alpha, Ian works closely with our CEO and our Senior Leadership Team to shape the future of our company and ensure our continued focus on shaping high-quality solutions aligned to our clients’ learning and development strategies.

Paul Monk

Managing Director

Paul began his career in the City of London, working on top-tier graduate programmes with a focus on Global Markets. He then moved role, to lead several high-profile eLearning projects across financial services – including specialist CPD programmes as part of the new UK RDR regulations. Since joining Alpha in 2012, Paul has been responsible for extending our client coverage from our London headquarters – including launching our US franchise in 2013 & our Singapore office in 2015. Today, as Managing Director of the firm, Paul is responsible for the global operations & strategy of the firm, chairing the Management Team committee and reporting directly to our Chairman.

Matt Wall

Global Commercial Director

Matt has been part of Alpha’s leadership team since 2008, and is most proud of the team we have grown over this time. He moved to the L&D world after his career in investment banking, and soon found his passion for innovating better Early Careers programmes, from interns to first steps in management. His client roles at Alpha have included Faculty Lead, Account Director and Learning Consultant – anything involving the production and execution of world class L&D initiatives.

In his current role, accountable for our client coverage teams globally, his background as a banker, trainer and Account Director helps our team develop the most engaging and effective solutions for our clients and their learners.

Hector Payne

Chief Learning Officer

Hector brings over 20 years of experience in the higher and corporate education industry with a specialism in learning data analytics and blended learning technologies. He has been credited with the design and development of learning and development initiatives ranging from professional development programmes to large scale corporate university projects for several FTSE 100 firms. To date, the programmes he has managed and developed have served the learning needs of over 150,000 individuals primarily in the financial services industry across the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific

In his current role, Hector is accountable for the Alpha Development product roadmap and ensuring that the quality of the provisions meets with the expectations of our clients. His background in learning design, product development and serving as an account director for large global organisations helps our teams translate industry best practice and cutting edge innovations into scalable solutions that meets the needs of learners, the managers of learners and ultimately the organisations’ strategies.

Katie Verdicchio

Operations Director

Katie has been working in the L&D industry since 2011. In previous years’ she has been immersed in managing training Programmes to the L&D industry which has proved vital in understanding the critical needs of business.

In her role as the Operations Director, Katie oversees ongoing business operations within the company and is responsible for effective execution of the firm’s long-term strategies. The role includes implementing tactical projects and ensuring continuous improvement and efficiency of the day to day operations.

Phillip Adey

Finance Director

Phillip graduated from the University of Birmingham (BSc Physics) and is a member of the ICAEW with over 25 years post qualification experience. Since qualifying he has had over 20 years experience as a Finance Director of various fast growth, award winning SME businesses. Phillip has sector experience in property, recruitment, retail and now training. He has worked within private equity backed businesses and has extensive experience in both the acquisition and the sale of businesses.
