This Operations/ Departmental Manager Training programme aims to improve the confidence and capability of your managers.

Who Is It For?

This Operations/ Departmental Manager Training course is for existing managers who want to develop their management skills further.

What Is Covered

This programme focusses on the way organisations operate and the application of management and leadership approaches to improve your impact as a manager. It will lead to improved performance and you will be better at supporting your colleagues and the service you give your customers.

This course can be accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and can form part of a programme to help delegates achieve the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management.

Delivery Options

There are three delivery options:

  • CMI Qualification – the workshops and assessments required to achieve the CMI Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management
  • A bespoke Leadership Development Programme (LDP)
  • As an apprenticeship with 100% government funding

Principles of Developing, Managing and Leading Individuals and Teams to Achieve Success

  • Understand the role and purpose of teams
  • Be able to recognise the characteristics of a high-performing team
  • Know how to lead, communicate with and motivate a high performing team
  • Know how to respond to challenges when managing a team proactively
  • Know how to manage the performance of a team


Managing Projects to Achieve Results 

  • Understand the role and purpose of projects in an organisation
  • Understand how projects are developed
  • Know how to deliver a project
  • Know how to monitor progress to ensure successful project delivery


Managing Change

  • Understand the reasons for change in an organisation
  • Understand the different approaches to change management
  • How to initiate plan and manage change


Managing Finance

  • Understand the importance of managing resources in your own area of responsibility
  • Understand the use of budgets in an organisation
  • Understand how to manage costs within a budget
  • Know how to monitor and control a budget in your own area of responsibility


Creating and Delivering Operational Plans

  • Understand the principles of operational planning in an organisation
  • How to create an operational plan in line with organisational objectives
  • How to manage and lead the delivery of an operational plan

Managing Stakeholder Relationships
