Introduction to Equity

This course introduces the different types of equity and their characteristics. It looks at the rights of a shareholder and some key activities undertaken by companies that can have an effect on the value of an investment. The course examines both the primary and secondary equity market and explains some key equity trading strategies including shorting equities. Participants will also be introduced to equity indices, the different ways in which these are calculated, and how fund managers balance their portfolio.
