Presenting With Impact

Data-orientated communication can often be our go-to approach to create persuasive and informative presentations. However, getting an audience focused and engaged with that data can be a challenge. This is down to the fact that human beings are incredibly tight-fisted with their attention. We are complete cognitive misers. So even with our most sophisticated of audiences we must work hard to engage, inform and influence.
This workshop will allow participants to play with new approaches to presenting which will allow them to engage, inform and persuade even the most sceptical of audiences.

  • The flow of attention through a presentation.

Opening with impact

  • The importance of capturing your audience’s attention.
  • A four-step model for building a bomb-proof opening*.

  • Techniques to keep your audience’s attention as your presentation progresses

  • Deciding how to leave your audience
  • Answering audience questions

Build a list of presenters or orators who you really admire. Use resources such as Ted.com to discover speakers who are skilled at engaging audiences effectively.
