We’re proud of our commitment to Corporate Purpose, and responsible business. We collaborate closely with many partners globally to support this work. A great example is Company of Good, an initiative of Singapore’s National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) that engages organisations to adopt corporate purpose and to demonstrate positive impact across people, society, governance, environment and economic dimensions.
Alpha Development in Singapore is a longstanding supporter & partner of Company of Good. We’re particularly honoured to have been recognised as a “Champion of Good”, one of just six SMEs in Singapore to have been continuously awarded this since its launch in 2017. NVPC describes Champions of Good as “organisations that are exemplary in doing good, and are also a multiplier through engaging partners and stakeholders on a collaborative journey”.
Our core CSR (corporate social responsibility) programme in Singapore provides personal, financial, and entrepreneurial skills training to female Foreign Domestic Workers – helping them to plan and have the confidence to return home and start their own small businesses. In 2022 we completed a pilot programme, with two cohorts running in 2023 of up to 50 participants.
With the launch of Company of Good’s new “Corporate Purpose: A Framework and Blueprint for Businesses in Singapore”, Alpha has also supported businesses that are starting out on their Purpose journey – through hosting a “Purpose in Action” event on Economic impact with NVPC. The event explored how Corporate Purpose can go hand in hand with economic growth and running a successful company. Over 30 businesspeople were invited to link their business strategy with purposeful economic impact, such as driving progress, creating meaningful jobs and contributing to community and society.
Employees are increasingly attracted to, and stay for the long term with, socially responsible organisations. According to a survey by Aon, 88% of employees in Asia Pacific feel more engaged and committed to their organisation when they are involved in CSR activities. Our purpose is to help accelerate the development of a more innovative, diverse, and resilient financial services industry. Our teams are aligned to deliver this via our core product and service offering and by engaging with partners, industry groups, and non-profits.
We are also committed to developing exceptional talent, equipping people with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the financial sector. Our training programmes are designed to attract, develop, and retain increasingly wide-ranging and diverse talent groups for our clients in the financial services industry.
As a Champion of Good we work hard to build connections with like-minded peers, learn from each other’s experiences, and help more organisations take the first steps on their journey to corporate responsibility.
