Large scale intern and graduate onboarding, pushing the boundaries for a global bank

A universal Financial Services group, incorporating banking, investment management, and securities services

Client

A global bank.

Client Objectives

With an increase in headcount, the Early Careers team were keen to explore how they could enhance their onboarding experience and ensure their programming continued to keep pace with that of their competitors on the street.

Not an easy task. With 1700 graduates, across 8 business areas and 8 locations globally, the destination roles were spread across all revenue lines in addition to Engineering and Operational business areas.

With this diverse and globally disparate population to successfully onboard, the client’s key objective was to deliver a globally consistent onboarding experience in which all new hires are thoroughly integrated into the firm.

Our Solution

We worked with the client to design a 5 day Financial Markets Bootcamp, globally consistent and business area agnostic, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the firm and the value it delivers to customers through its unique ecosystem of services.

The onboarding journey was expanded to include communications and productivity sessions to further deepen desk-ready skills from Day 1.

The client was able to use our global faculty sourced from all 8 hubs (3* US, UK, Poland, 2* India, Singapore), minimizing T&E costs for our client and ensuring that our instructors are experienced in local market conventions.

We are also supporting the onboarding program with a two-year development journey including a series of quarterly professional skills sessions to ensure sustained professional growth. Sessions are designed to build on foundational skills and prepare participants for increased responsibilities across various rotations within the firm.

Success for our Client

We were thrilled to help our client achieve 90%+ evaluations across the board for year one. Our year two focus is working with Early Careers to better capture all knowledge levels across the cohort and add a deeper ‘client-led’ dive into the client’s global footprint and revenue generation mechanisms.

Why Alpha?

This was our first work with this firm, but not our first work with the lead of the Early Careers team, who has partnered with Alpha at two other firms over the last ten years. We are always happy when our clients move to a new firm and trust Alpha to help them make their impact.
