Onboarding lateral hires, and a booster for existing people

Global asset management firm

Client

Culture means everything for this asset management firm. When redesigning their onboarding process for new hires, they spread it over two years – because that is a short time in most people’s tenure in the firm.

Client Objectives

As part of the regular onboarding process for new hires, we were asked to deliver an overview of the firm and the industry.

The key objective: this has to feel like it has been delivered by someone internal to the firm’s culture.

Our Solution

Our onboarding solution for this client is not your standard “Intro to Asset Management”: it tells the client’s story, in their language, about what makes them unique.

We piloted this onboarding module with existing staff from the business, including some who had been at the firm 20+ years.

Included in the feedback we heard “I learned a lot”, and “I wish I’d had this years ago – can we roll this out to our team?”.

We realized this “onboarding” program filled a real need for experienced staff who have deep SME knowledge but would benefit from a better understanding of how they fit into the big picture.

Success for our Client

Two years in, this course is a regular part of the Employee Engagement calendar, for onboarding new hires and for long-standing employees alike.

Why Alpha?

Our client’s Employee Engagement teams were crystal clear that they expected us to embed the course in the company’s culture. Having spent several months on other consultancy projects in-house, we were ready to put our experience to good use.
