Purposeful Career Conversations

One of the key highlights for many managers is helping grow and develop their team members. “Purposeful Career Conversations” is a practical session is designed to help managers identify which stage of the Career Development Cycle (CDC) their team members are at, as well as providing a revision of the skills involved in having a purposeful conversation around career.

In a world where opportunities fluctuate, and the meaning of “career” holds different meanings for different individuals, managers need to be comfortable with ambiguity in these conversations, and more present for their people when these conversations arise.

  • Flexing: depending on the individual, depending on which stage of the CDC they are at
  • Using a model for the conversation: GROWS
  • Identify your key strength in these conversations; what can derail you?

Action planning

Identify specific changes you will make in terms of how you hold these conversations in the future
